Mykhailenko Liudmyla Yevdokymivna was awarded an academician of the UAN (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences) on the Department of Medico-biological and Chemical Sciences in the field of ecology. Born on April 24, 1938 in the city of Chernigov, Ukrainian, citizen of Ukraine. She has lived in Kyiv since 1955. Higher education: the biology faculty of the Shevchenko State University in Kyiv (1955 -1960); became a specialist in the field of microbiology. From 1960 to 2001, she worked at the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR: 1962-1965 - postgraduate; 1965-1970 -junior research associate; 1970-1975 - senior research associate; 1975-1990 - Head of the Water Microbiology Lab; 1990-2001 -chief research associate. Within this period, she defended a Ph. D. thesis (1966), and was awarded a rank of senior research associate (the decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1979).Later on, she defended a doctoral thesis (1995). Since 2002, she has been lecturing the course on ecology of water reservoirs and water microbiology to the students of the Shevchenko National University in Kyiv. Her interests in science are focused on studying the regularities of functioning bacterial population of the Dnieper water reservoirs in conditions of their anthropogenic contamination and estimation the role of bacteria in the processes of bioproduction and formations of water quality. Mykhailenko L.Y. is an author (coauthor of 90 scientific works), including 5 monographs on microbiology and hydrobiology. Mykhailenko L.Y. supervised 5 candidates of biological sciences.She became an award winner of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in the field of biology, chemistry and medicine Mykhailenko L.Y. is a member of a civic organization "Green light" Her hobbies are nature, music, theater.
